Down the Coast

about

Down the Coast is a cinematic journey of heartache, loss and the torment of trying to reunite physically as well as emotionally. A deep desperation drives the main protagonist. It’s not clear who is who in the story, but anyone who has felt infatuation and longing will relate to the emotional drama.
Musically, the song goes through several stylistic progressions which may not sound fully compatible “on paper”. Indie pop, reggae and nu-disco mix it up to contrast the lyrical depths of despair.

lyrics

Down the Coast

Chorus:
I never wanted to feel
You slip through my fingers
Gonna drive down the coast tonight
On my own, you on my mind

Air thick with fireflies
As I step out of the car
Sink with a feeling that none possess
So deep, the ocean seems mild

Break the surf, swim or drown
Want more than a broken heart
A place to hang my head tonight
On a cloud, if not in your arms

(chorus)

You said you heard before
All I had to say on the phone
Well I won’t speak no more
Find my way with the headlights on

You and I were like a cathedral
You and I were indescribable

(chorus)
